Rina Rhino trotted happily along the trail until she skidded to a stop. Ahead lay a path scattered with big, jagged rocks, bumpy and uneven in every direction.
“No problem!” she huffed confidently, and charged forward at full speed.
Stumble! Wobble! Her foot caught on a rock, and she toppled sideways with a heavy thud.
“Ow!” Rina groaned, rubbing her knee. She scrambled up and tried again, rushing even faster this time — but thump! — she tripped once more, tumbling nose-first into the dust.
Frustrated tears pricked at her eyes. “Why won’t this work? I just want to get across!”
She sat for a moment, catching her breath, staring hard at the rocky path ahead. Slowly, an idea began to form. Maybe… rushing isn’t the answer at all.
Taking a deep, calming breath, Rina lifted one foot carefully, placed it down gently, then lifted the next. Step by careful step, she made her way across — without a single stumble.
“I did it!” she cheered, relief and pride bursting through her as she reached the other side.
Her friends, watching from behind, clapped and cheered. “Show us how, Rina!”
Rina smiled warmly and led them across, one slow, steady step at a time.
Because sometimes, going slowly is exactly what gets you where you’re going — safely, surely, and proudly.
Lesson: Slow and steady helps us reach our goals.
