Zebra’s Stripy Shadow

One sunny afternoon, Zane Zebra glanced down and gasped. His shadow stretched long across the ground, extra dark and extra stripy!

“Whoa,” he blinked, shuffling side to side. The shadow copied him perfectly, stripe for stripe. “Is it… following me?”

A little nervous, Zane trotted behind a big rock, hoping to hide. He peeked out slowly, holding his breath… but there it was, waiting patiently right beside him.

“Hey!” he huffed, dashing behind a bush instead. Still, the shadow appeared, matching his every move like a stubborn shadow-twin.

Zane’s tummy fluttered with worry. “Why won’t it just leave me alone?”

He flopped down, frustrated, and stared hard at his stripy companion. Then, slowly, an idea bloomed in his mind. Maybe… It’s not trying to bother me at all.

Zane stood up and wiggled his hips. His shadow wiggled too. He spun in a circle — and his shadow twirled right along with him, playful and free!

Zane’s worry melted into giggles. “You’re not chasing me… you’re dancing with me!”

He laughed, leaping and prancing across the meadow, his shadow following every joyful, stripy step.

From that day on, Zane never tried to lose his shadow again. Because some things aren’t foes at all — they’re simply friends, waiting for a dance.

Lesson: Some things are better as friends, not foes.
