Owl’s Midnight Snack Mix-Up

Hoo-hoo. Ollie Owl’s tummy rumbled softly in the dark. “Time for a midnight snack!”

He fluttered to the kitchen, eyes half-closed and sleepy, wings feeling around in the shadows for something yummy. Suddenly, his wing brushed against something round and bumpy.

“Cookie!” he cheered, and took a giant, hopeful bite.

“OUCH!”

It wasn’t a cookie at all — it was a prickly, crunchy pinecone!

“Ptooey, ptooey!” Ollie sputtered, shaking his head as tiny pine bits scattered everywhere, his eyes watering with surprise.

The commotion woke his friends. Bella Bunny peeked out, rubbing her eyes. “Ollie? What in the world happened?”

“I… I tried to eat a pinecone,” Ollie admitted, his feathers drooping with embarrassment.

For a moment, everyone was silent. Then Bella burst into giggles, picturing poor Ollie crunching away on prickly pine — and soon, the whole group was laughing so hard their tummies hurt.

“Well,” Bella smiled, wiping a giggly tear, “let’s find you a real snack.” She pulled out a plate of soft, warm cookies, and everyone gathered close, munching and laughing beneath the moonlight.

“Midnight munch party!” they cheered together.

Ollie laughed loudest of all, his embarrassment melting into joy. His silly mistake hadn’t ruined the night — it had turned it into the best midnight snack ever.

Lesson: Mistakes can turn into happy moments.
